Name and age of your little cloth diaper wearer...
Elijah, 6 mos.
Your cloth diaper system and why you chose it...
Mainly prefolds/fitteds and covers, but we also have 1 pocket and 2 pocket fitteds. We also use cloth wipes and homemade wipes solution. We chose it because it was one of the cheapest options. Why did you decide to cloth diaper?
Mainly because it truly is cheaper than disposables and better for environment. How long have you used cloth?
Since Eli was born. What processes or products have you changed from when you first started?
Well, we started out with just prefolds and covers, but my husband liked the ease of using fitteds so we adopted some of those into our stash. I also wanted to try out a pocket to see if it was worth the money, but I've found that for us, it isn't. We use the 2 pocket fitteds for night-time diapering and it is working well (for the most part). What is your wash routine?
We have a front-loading washer so I'll do a rinse, then add detergent and start a warm cycle with an extra rinse, and then a cold cycle (no detergent) to make sure all the suds are out. I am currently using Tide (I know, big no-no!) but am planning to switch to something like Charlie's soap because we are having stink issues with our fitteds (I think it's the microfiber in it)...there's a reason why they have specific cloth diaper detergent, heh. If we were just using prefolds I'd stick with Tide because we have never had stink issues with prefolds, using Tide or Tide-free.What are your preferred cloth diaper brands/products?
For prefolds, I'm a fan of green mountain diapers. They also just started making their "work-horse" fitteds that I LOVE! I only picked up one to try out, but they are cheaper and much more absorbent than the kissaluvs fitteds we have been using, so I may switch out my stash! We also LOVE our Thirsties duo snap wraps for covers. I would also recommend Happy Hempys pocket fitteds for nighttime diapering. Eli is a HEAVY wetter at night and those are the only things that have seemed to hold it in (other than disposables). Plus, you are able to stuff it to match the absorbency needed.#1 reason you love cloth diapers?
Ummm...it's a tie between cheap and how they hold in the poop! We have NEVER had a blow out with our cloth! What is your biggest cloth diapering challenge, and how do you get over it?
Stink issues in our kissaluvs fitteds :( I think ultimately to get over the stink, we just need to get rid of our microfiber and never use it again. What is your cutest cloth diaper/cover?
Mmmm we are pretty boring so we just have solid color covers...but I like to match them to his outfits!Money you've spent on cloth diapers so far...
